Music is a healing art form. MusiCare provides free performances by Carpe Diem String Quartet in nursing facilities, hospitals, hospices, and similar institutions where the population is unable to leave the facility due to various health issues and restrictions. Carpe Diem believes we can provide a valuable healing experience for those otherwise not able to attend or hear concerts. These free performances allow facilities from all socio-economic levels to take advantage of this program. Carpe Diem works with the programming director or similar administrator to schedule these performances.
We are pleased to announce that this coming year we will be expanding our MusiCare program to include visits to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center. This will be a unique and unprecedented expansion. Until now, no performing arts organization in Columbus has ever taken on the mission of reaching out to the troubled young people in this facility.
Music Goes to School. Carpe Diem visits Ohio schools regularly throughout the academic year. We communicate closely with teachers and instructors to provide unique and tailor-made programs for each school, including interactive concerts for general assemblies, chamber ensemble coaching, orchestral sectionals, full orchestra coaching, and side-by-side rehearsals and performances with music students. To continue to improve and modify our programs, we have a post-program questionnaire for teachers and students to complete. This season we will also increase our Music Goes to School program by teaming up with the Columbus Head Start Centers, offering a quality musical experience to pre-school age children in Columbus.
We invite you to become a part of the Carpe Diem String Quartet family of supporters. Your donation can be designated for a specific program, or simply sent to our general fund. Because we have neither administration or office space, every single dollar of your support goes directly to our community engagement.
